LEXINGTON, KY – October 19, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Swim Pro Service & Supply, a family-owned pool service and supply company, completed a full filter media replacement on two 60-inch commercial high-rate sand filters at YMCA Beaumont earlier this year. Years of service use had left the original sand and gravel media compacted and ineffective, resulting in elevated chloramines and poor water quality. The project restored filtration capacity and improved water conditions at the public aquatic facility through coordinated media removal, inspection, and installation of new materials.
Technicians coordinated a vacuum truck to remove all existing sand from the filters. The team then layered approximately 2,000 pounds of support gravel and 1,500 pounds of Zeobrite filter media in each filter, for a combined total of nearly 7,000 pounds of material. After inspecting the laterals, underdrains, and internal surfaces, the crew reassembled the vessels, performed full backwash and rinse cycles, and verified normal operating pressure and flow. The work returned the filtration system to effective operation.
The filter media change was completed by technicians Michael, Chris, and Kevin. The scale of the two large commercial filters required careful sequencing of vacuum removal, media placement, and system verification. Zeobrite media was selected to support proper flow distribution and long-term filtration in a high-use public setting.
The YMCA Beaumont project reflects the impact of Swim Pro’s commercial pool services, which include equipment service for high-volume facilities and water quality management for public and recreational pools. Swim Pro has addressed similar filtration needs at other commercial pools in Central Kentucky, where aged media can affect water conditions.
“The filters at YMCA Beaumont had accumulated years of use that left the original media compacted and unable to maintain clear water,” said Patrick Staar, co-owner of Swim Pro Service & Supply. “Removing the spent sand and gravel and installing several thousand pounds of new media restored the filtration capacity the facility needs.”
Patrick Staar and Alysia Staar serve as co-owners of the family-owned business. The company has more than 50 years of experience serving residential and commercial clients across Fayette County and surrounding areas, including Georgetown, Nicholasville, Richmond, and Versailles. Residential services include weekly maintenance, seasonal openings and closings, equipment repair, and filter media changes. Commercial services cover apartment complexes, hotels, resorts, fitness centers, gyms, and municipal facilities, with offerings that include bulk chemical delivery, compliance support, and equipment upgrades.
Fully licensed and insured technicians handle both planned maintenance and corrective equipment service. The company maintains authorized warranty relationships with major equipment manufacturers. The YMCA Beaumont filter replacement addressed performance decline associated with aged media. Restored filtration supports facilities in managing water quality for public swimming.
Swim Pro Service & Supply also provides residential filter media changes when sand or glass media ages and contributes to cloudy water or reduced flow. One recent residential example involved replacement of media in a Hayward ProSeries S244T 24-inch top-mount sand filter using approximately 240 pounds of filter media glass to restore clarity. These smaller residential projects and larger commercial filter changes both rely on the same core process of removal, inspection, and verified restart.
The company continues to offer leak detection, plumbing repair, and seasonal services alongside filtration work. The YMCA Beaumont project demonstrates the scale of media replacement sometimes required for commercial high-rate sand filters after extended service.
Swim Pro Service & Supply operates as a family-owned business dedicated to professional pool care. With more than 50 years of experience serving residential and commercial clients across Fayette County and surrounding Central Kentucky areas, the company maintains its focus on quality through its experienced team and family-guided operations.
