Critical Materials Group Raises $10.3M Seed Round to Modernize U.S. Energetics Manufacturing
PR Newswire
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 2, 2026
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Critical Materials Group (CMG), a privately owned U.S.-based manufacturing company modernizing domestic energetics production, today announced it has raised $10.3M in Seed funding led by Overmatch Ventures, with participation from Victory Six Advisors and Fulcrum Ventures. The round will be used to accelerate development and commissioning of CMG’s modular energetics production platform, expand the company’s engineering and operations team, and advance regulatory milestones.
The investment comes as demand for domestic munitions and advanced energetics production reaches a critical inflection point. Decades of consolidation have left U.S. energetics manufacturing concentrated in a small number of facilities with limited surge capacity, creating strategic vulnerabilities that have grown more acute amid sustained global conflict and accelerating allied demand. CMG is developing modular, automation-ready production platforms designed to expand and strengthen the existing industrial base, giving established manufacturers and defense primes the capacity, flexibility, and resilience needed to meet sustained production requirements without disrupting proven operations.
“The U.S. energetics industrial base, from the GOCOs to the prime contractors that depend on them, has been the backbone of American energetics for generations – CMG was built to add capacity to that ecosystem,” said Kevin Capozzoli, CEO and Co-Founder of Critical Materials Group.” This funding accelerates our ability to bring modular, automation-ready production online as a complementary source that gives the industrial base the flexibility and surge capacity it needs to meet a demand signal that isn’t slowing down.”
The Seed funding will also allow CMG to meet current commitments across its contract portfolio and move faster on facility commissioning as demand from U.S. government customers continues to build. The company is simultaneously building out its government relations and regulatory compliance infrastructure to support long-term production partnerships.
“CMG sits at the intersection of geopolitics and deep tech. Energetics, like rare earth minerals, sit upstream of nearly every U.S. kinetic capability, and recent conflicts have exposed the enormous gap between peacetime production and wartime consumption. But Kevin and Travis are ultimately why we led this round. Kevin is an uncommon combination of end-user and exceptional operator. He has seen firsthand what a thin industrial base costs downrange. Travis runs one of the few private labs in the country that can formulate, test, and qualify energetic materials. Together, they are the team to rebuild the arsenal we need to deter, and if necessary defeat, our adversaries,” said Morgan Hitzig, General Partner at Overmatch Ventures.
Founded in 2025, CMG has moved quickly to establish technical credibility and government alignment in a sector defined by long procurement cycles and high barriers to entry. The company’s founding team brings experience from military service, defense contracting, and procurement, positioning itself as a trusted partner capable of filling the arsenal gaps the modern threat environment demands.
