AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Mirewood, the Austin-based direct-to-consumer modular sofa brand, has expanded its cloud sectional systems with hidden-storage modules designed for households where floor space is the binding constraint.
The Halo Modular Storage Ottoman and Valen Modular Washable Storage Ottoman both open with a lift-top to a concealed compartment sized for blankets, pillows and remotes. Each connects tool-free to any other module in its collection using hidden interlocking steel clips, and doubles as a footrest or additional seating. Both are priced at $650 and ship free within the 48 contiguous states.
The addition targets a gap that shows up repeatedly in how people shop for sofas: storage and cleanability are usually sold as separate categories. Storage furniture tends to come in fixed upholstery, and washable furniture rarely stores anything.
“If a piece of furniture takes up four feet of a small living room, it should be storing something,” said Yazen Halik, founder of Mirewood. “What we kept hearing was that people were choosing between a sofa they could clean and a sofa that gave them somewhere to put things. There was no reason it had to be a choice.”
Every cover on the storage modules, like the rest of the Mirewood range, unzips and washes in a household machine. Covers are sold individually, so a single damaged panel does not require replacing the piece. The upholstery is a tightly woven performance cotton-linen blend, lab-tested to 100,000 double rubs, roughly twice the durability of typical sofa fabric, and made without PFAS, the class of forever chemicals used in many stain-resistant furniture treatments.
Frames are built with kiln-dried wood and carry Mirewood’s Limited Lifetime Warranty on the frame. Orders ship free within 72 hours, flat-packed in cartons that fit through standard doorways, a practical consideration for apartment buyers who frequently find that conventional sectionals cannot be carried up a stairwell or into an elevator.
The storage modules are available across both of Mirewood’s cloud sectional collections. Complete configurations including a storage ottoman start at $2,799 for a five-piece sectional, and individual modules can be added to an existing Mirewood layout at any time.
Mirewood’s range spans armchairs through five-piece sectionals, beginning at $1,299 for a two-seater. All configurations use the same tool-free connection system, allowing owners to reconfigure or expand a layout as a room changes.
