Frazier Healthcare Partners, a private equity firm focused exclusively on the healthcare industry, is pleased to announce that Wes Wheeler has joined the firm’s Growth Buyout team as an Executive in Residence. In this role, Mr. Wheeler will support Frazier’s investment professionals with diligence efforts and sector insights in life science logistics and infrastructure, while also advising portfolio leadership teams on operational performance, strategic growth initiatives, and value creation.
Mr. Wheeler brings more than 30 years of executive leadership across six global healthcare and pharmaceutical businesses, with repeated CEO and Board Director roles at both private equity-backed and publicly traded companies.
Most recently, Mr. Wheeler served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of LabConnect, a central laboratory services company supporting clinical trials globally. Prior to LabConnect, Mr. Wheeler served as President of UPS Healthcare, where he built and led a new healthcare vertical, comprising 10,000 employees and operations across 35 countries. During that period, he served as a primary industry interface to the US Government during Operation Warp Speed, overseeing logistics for the distribution of over 1.5 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to more than 100 countries. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wheeler served as CEO of Marken, a specialty clinical supply chain company later acquired by UPS; as CEO of Patheon (now Thermo Fisher), where he led an operational and financial turnaround of the publicly traded contract manufacturer; and as President of Valeant Pharmaceuticals (now Bausch Health). Prior to these roles, he had an extensive career at GlaxoSmithKline, which culminated as Senior Vice President of GSK’s Manufacturing & Supply Division.
“Wes is a highly accomplished, results-oriented healthcare executive with a wealth of experience in pharma services,” said Philip Zaorski, General Partner at Frazier Healthcare Partners. “His depth of knowledge across healthcare supply chain, pharma manufacturing, and clinical trials, combined with his ability to drive organic and inorganic growth strategies, makes him an exceptional addition to our firm.”
“Frazier’s reputation for partnering with management teams to build market-leading healthcare businesses is well earned, and I have seen firsthand the caliber of companies they support,” said Wes Wheeler. “I look forward to working alongside the team to identify compelling opportunities and help drive operational and financial performance across the portfolio.”
